Terms
Short version, in plain language.
What you're buying
A claim is a symbolic, virtual keepsake: your chosen name and an optional short note, shown next to a historical event on this website. That's it. It is not ownership and gives you no legal right, no property, and no intellectual-property interest in the event, its name, or any image of it. Anyone may write about or depict the same event freely. It's the same idea as "naming" a star.
The basics
- One payment. No subscription, no renewals.
- One holder per event. Claims can't be resold or transferred through the site.
- Your holder name and optional note are public. Keep them lawful and civil - nothing hateful, harassing, deceptive, or impersonating anyone. We can edit, hide, or remove a note, or reverse a claim and refund you, if it breaks this rule.
- We may add, correct, or remove events, and the site might not exist forever (see Refunds for what happens then).
- The service is provided "as is". If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid for the claim in question.
- You must be at least 18, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
Payment and delivery
Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details, and prices are shown before you pay. A claim is digital and delivered immediately on payment - your name goes on the globe and your certificate is emailed at once. By completing checkout you ask us to deliver it right away and you accept that the usual cooling-off period does not apply. See Refunds for what we do refund.
Who we are
Datestone is an independent project operated from the United Kingdom. Payments and your consumer rights as a buyer are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, as merchant of record. For the name and address of the operator, or any other trader detail, email [email protected] and we will provide it. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
